Collection: KIP Electric Sauna Heaters

Harvia KIP electric sauna heaters are compact, wall-mounted heaters designed for traditional home saunas. Their straightforward design makes them a good choice if you want reliable electric heat and the ability to pour water over heated sauna stones for traditional steam, without giving up much floor space.

The KIP series is available in different power outputs to suit different sauna room sizes. You can also choose how you want to control your sauna. KIP B models have the timer and temperature controls built directly into the heater, while KIP W models are designed for use with a separate wall-mounted control system, including compatible Harvia Xenio control options.

Compared with larger stone-filled pillar heaters such as the Harvia Cilindro, KIP heaters have a smaller stone capacity and a more compact footprint. They are well suited to sauna owners who prefer a simple, traditional heater rather than making the heater itself a major feature of the room.

Browse the Harvia KIP heaters below and compare the kW output, recommended sauna size and control type to find the model that fits your sauna.

Frequently Asked Questions About Harvia KIP Electric Sauna Heaters

KIP B models have the timer and thermostat controls built directly into the heater. KIP W models are designed to work with a separate external control system. Harvia also offers compatible digital Xenio controls for selected configurations.

Harvia KIP is a compact, wall-mounted heater with a smaller stone capacity. Harvia describes it as a traditional heater that heats quickly and is well suited to people who prefer a hotter, somewhat drier sauna experience. Depending on the model, KIP heaters are available with built-in controls or a separate control system.

Harvia Cilindro is a floor-standing pillar heater built around a much larger mass of exposed stones. That additional stone capacity stores more heat and generally produces softer, longer-lasting steam when water is added. The open pillar design also allows water to be applied to different areas of the stones, giving you more variation in the steam experience. Cilindro models are available with built-in, separate or digital control options.

Not always. KIP models with built-in controls can be operated directly from the heater. Models without built-in controls require a compatible separate control unit. Harvia's KIP series supports manual built-in controls as well as separate and digital Xenio control options, depending on the model.

Selected KIP models designed for an external control system can be paired with compatible Harvia Xenio equipment that supports MyHarvia Wi-Fi remote control. This can allow functions such as remote starting, temperature adjustment and scheduled heating when the required safety equipment is installed.

The heater is wall-mounted, but its electrical connection and installation must meet the manufacturer's instructions and applicable electrical codes. Because these are hardwired high-voltage heaters, the electrical work should be completed by a qualified electrician.

Sauna stones gradually crack, settle and deteriorate through repeated heating and cooling. Harvia recommends rearranging heater stones at least once a year, and more often with frequent sauna use. Remove broken pieces and replace deteriorated stones so air can continue to circulate properly through the heater.

Possible causes include an electrical supply issue, an incorrectly set mechanical timer, a tripped overheat protector or restricted airflow through the heater stones. Too many stones, deteriorated stones or stones packed too tightly can reduce airflow and contribute to overheating. If the overheat protector repeatedly trips or the heater still does not operate correctly, Harvia recommends having the cause checked by a qualified electrician.
